Health and safety

Keeping your business safe for employees and customers

Health and safety procedures

Health and Safety procedures are required by law for any business and are highly relevant in hospitality or tourism where you are dealing with many external customers throughout the day.

The first place to go for all health and safety information is the Health and Safety Executive body.

Control of Substances Hazardous to Health

Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) is a law set out to minimise exposure to dangerous substances through a controlled system of rules.

You have to first complete a risk assessment to identify the substances and then create a standard of practise to protect against the risk, including things like protective equipment, specific procedures or worker behaviours.

Visit COSHH on the HSE website to understand what risks you might be faced with and the kind of practices you can put in place.
